Indie Beauty Network in Minnesota Garners Media Attention On FDA Globalization

September 15, 2008

Charlotte, NC - IBN - Thanks to the tireless efforts of Indie Beauty Network member Cheryl Niemela of Good Thymes Bath & Body in Cokato, Minnesota, the Dassel-Cokato Enterprise Dispatch published an article today on how, if passed, the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 would unfairly impact Good Thymes and Indie Beauty Businesses statewide. Read the article here.

The following statement may be attributed to IBN's Founder and President Donna Maria Coles Johnson:

"IBN thanks Cheryl Niemela and Indies nationwide for reaching out to their local media representatives to share their stories of American innovation, tenacity and profitability. If the FDA Globalization Act of 2008 passes in its current form, millions of families will be unfairly affected for years to come. Thanks to the Enterprise Dispatch for using its resources to inform the local community about these issues, which are of critical importance to families nationwide. Cheryl business, and thousands like hers, are one of the sole remaining stable facets of the American economy today. We feel that it is important for policy makers to support and encourage Indie Businesses, and newspaper stories help make that happen. I, Cheryl and all Indie Beauty Network members look forward to continuing to work with members of the House and Senate and other interested parties to ensure that any new laws do not unfairly impact small businesses, the backbone of the American economy."

Established in 2000, The Indie Beauty Network is the trade organization for independent manufacturers of soaps, cosmetics, candles, fragrances and aromatherapy products. www.IndieBeauty.com
